Rust Crafting Update: New Features and Enhancements
Cooking Workbench
The cooking workbench is a new deployable that allows players to cook new food recipes. It also supports crafting mixing table recipes. Many new items unlocked through this workbench offer stat and modifier bonuses, enhancing the gameplay experience.
Chicken Coop
The Chicken Coop is another exciting addition, allowing players to hatch and care for chickens. Players start by finding an egg from wild chickens, which can then be hatched in the coop. Chickens have four stats to manage: Hunger, Thirst, Love, and Sunlight. Happy chickens will periodically lay eggs.
Food Spoiling
Meat-based food items now spoil over time, requiring storage in a fridge or cooking to prevent spoilage. Raw meat spoils in six hours, while cooked meat lasts 24 hours. The spoilage timer pauses when refrigerated.
Triangle Planter
The new Triangle Planter maximizes farming space by fitting on a triangle foundation or floor piece. It supports planting four seeds at once and matches the small planter's soil saturation. A Railroad version is available for Frontier DLC owners.
Bees
Natural Beehives
Players can find beehives in the wild, which can be harvested for honeycomb. However, disturbing a hive will provoke bees, which can be countered with fire, water, or a Hazmat Suit.

Players can deploy a Beehive to produce honeycomb. Beehives require management of environmental factors like sunlight, humidity, and temperature.
Bee Grenade
The new Bee Grenade weapon creates bee swarms to attack players. It operates similarly to natural beehive swarms.
Pies
A variety of new pie recipes have been introduced, each offering unique stat or modifier bonuses.
Engineering Workbench
The Engineering Workbench introduces a tech tree for water, electricity, and industrial systems, enhancing base automation capabilities.
QOL Changes
Several quality of life changes have been made, including increased drone range, reduced wood armor crafting costs, updated meat models, and reduced crafting times for over 40 items.
Premium Servers
Premium Servers are being introduced to filter out cheat users, requiring a Rust Steam inventory valued at $15 or more to access. These servers aim to provide a better experience for legitimate players.
Hopper
The Hopper is a new attachment for Large Wood Boxes or Storage Barrels, automatically collecting nearby items and depositing them into the box.
Item Ownership
Items now display the creator's name and crafting method, allowing players to track item origins or boast about their acquisitions.
Armor Slots
Player-crafted armor now features armor slots for inserts, providing various bonuses. The number of slots is randomized during crafting.
Cosmetic Flowers
Roses, orchids, and sunflowers can be found, picked, and planted as cosmetic items, with a new plant pot available for gardening.
