Rust Jungle Update: New Biome, Wildlife, and Features

Jungle Biome
Rust introduces its first new biome since the original procedural world generation: the Jungle! This lush environment covers parts of the temperate coastal area where new players spawn, featuring flatter terrain, higher river density, and thicker foliage.

The Jungle biome boasts a variety of new foliage, including bushes like bromeliads and monstera, undergrowth plants such as arrowroot and calathea, and new trees like trumpet trees, jungle palms, and sandbox trees. The massive kapok trees are a highlight, allowing players to climb and swing from them.

The dense jungle offers both danger and opportunity, with predators lurking and the potential for players to hunt their prey. The biome supports full base building, inviting players to embrace their inner Tarzan.

Vine Swinging
Explore the Jungle biome's trees covered in vines, which players can climb to reach new vantage points. Interactive vines allow players to swing between branches, traversing the jungle without touching the ground.

Vines can be shared among teammates by throwing them back. They also offer a quick, safe, and quiet descent to the jungle floor. Vines can be harvested for wood, but they will respawn after a while.

Jungle Remnants
Discover small jungle monuments like the Jungle Ziggurat and ancient jungle ruins, offering a glimpse into a forgotten past. These sites provide early-game loot and surprises for explorers.

Jungle Ruins
The Jungle Ruins are atmospheric monuments offering low-tier supplies and surprises, perfect for a quick exploration stop.

Tigers and Panthers
The jungle's dense foliage hides deadly predators like tigers and rare black panthers. Tigers are stealthy, striking only when sure to kill, but players receive in-game hints to avoid unfair ambushes.

Players should also be wary of black panthers and discover hidden tricks to outsmart these predators.

Crocodile
Rivers in the jungle are home to crocodiles, tough creatures that demand respect. While they seem slow, they can surprise players who underestimate them.

Like other predators, crocodiles have a hidden counterplay for savvy players.

Boomerang
Introducing the Boomerang, a new throwable weapon that returns to the player. Its fixed arc allows skilled players to master its timing and trajectory.

Blowpipe
The Blowpipe is a new early-game weapon offering silent, improvised attacks. It uses four types of darts: Wood, Scatter, Incapacitate, and Radiation, each with unique effects.

- Wood Dart – Basic, light damage.
- Scatter Dart – Short-range spread shot.
- Incapacitate Dart – Slows and obscures vision.
- Radiation Dart – Applies stackable radiation.
Snakes
Snakes add a stealthy threat in the jungle, with poison attacks that slow movement. Listen for their hiss to avoid bites, and skin them for Snake Venom to craft incapacitate darts.

Larger Rivers
Rivers across all biomes are now longer, wider, and deeper, requiring players to swim across. The jungle biome features a higher river density, adding more waterways to navigate.

Notable Changes
- Vending Machine Fridge – Prevents food spoilage when powered.
- Food Cooling Icon – Indicates when food is kept cool.
- Chicken Coop – Resized to fit on a foundation.
- Jungle Animal Meats – New themed meats added.
- Outbreak Scientist – New scientists roam the jungle.
- Leather Gloves – Now default BP, no sewing kit needed.
