Rust Common Ground Update: Apartments, Shops, and More

Apartment Complex
The latest Rust update introduces the apartment complex, a new monument designed to give players a place to call home at the start of a wipe. Players can rent rooms by speaking to the receptionist in the lobby.

Rooms are available for every budget, from the basement to the penthouse, each offering different perks like storage and furnaces.

To maintain your room, you must insert scrap into the slot next to your door, or risk eviction and losing your possessions.

A master key exists on the island, allowing temporary access to any occupied room for five minutes. A guard in the basement might offer clues on which room to target.
Rentable Shops
The apartment complex also features a marketplace where players can purchase and operate shops. This allows players to sell goods to apartment residents.

To open a shop, interact with the contract outside the shop to learn about the costs, including a non-refundable upfront scrap fee and an hourly scrap cost. Shops require at least 12 hours of rent to open.

After six hours, shops can be taken over by others at increased costs, which escalate until the shop resets. Items left in a closed shop can be retrieved within 24 hours.
Softcore Updates
Changes to the Softcore game mode include:
Accelerated Progression
A 2x multiplier on resource gathering, similar to modded servers, provides more ore, wood, food, and animal loot.

Raid Windows
Raids are now limited to 6 PM - 9 PM local time, with Tool Cupboards providing protection outside these hours. This system is customizable for server owners.

Clan Table
The new Clan Table allows players to form clans, offering more roles and permissions than teams. Clans have separate chat channels and can display member locations on the map.

Clan names are visible on player nameplates, but the system is disabled in hardcore mode.
Player Animation Updates
Sprinting with Rifles
New animations for sprinting with two-handed projectile weapons make player movement look more natural.
One-Handed Melee Weapons
Testing new animations for one-handed melee weapons, starting with the Hatchet, to improve movement while holding weapons.
Glowing Wallpaper Pack
The Glowing Wallpaper Pack is now available, featuring 27 luminous wallpapers for walls, floors, and ceilings. This pack includes neon, graffiti, and fungi designs.
