Player Maintained Monuments

This month, Rust introduces Player Maintained Monuments, a feature that integrates existing monuments in new ways, encouraging player interaction.

Powering Up the Power Plant

With the introduction of Heavy Fuses, players can reactivate the power plant to unlock new gameplay features. These fuses can be found as loot and are required to power up special fuse boxes.

Powerline poles with transformers can now provide power for electrical circuits and can be climbed without a ladder.

Green recyclers outside safezones have a reduced efficiency, but can be enhanced with power from the plant. A new red recycler with 75% efficiency is available at the power plant.

Satellite Crash Event

A new in-game event allows players to control a satellite and target a crash location, resulting in lootable satellite crates.

Dome Pumping

Once the power plant is active, players can use a switch on the Large Oil Rig to pump crude oil to the Dome. A Tanker vehicle module is needed to transport the oil.

Supermarket Freezer

A new freezer in the Supermarket provides chilled food when powered by the power plant.

Water Treatment Plant Production

Water pipes spawn around roadsides and require maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant to function.

Gas Station Car Garage

Oxum's car garage now features a switch-operated door and a car lift when powered.

Airfield Terminal Tower

A refreshed control tower at the airfield includes terminals that increase airdrop rates and call in Chinook resupply crates when charged.

Bar Games Pack DLC

The Bar Games Pack introduces mini-games like Pool and Darts, along with themed items for your base.

The Bar Games Pack is available for purchase in-game or from the Rust Steam item store.

Stone Sculpture Item DLC

The new Stone Sculpture lets players carve stone into desired shapes, available for purchase in-game or from the Rust Steam item store.

Respawn Point Improvements

Players can now toggle a respawn option to display on the compass and favorite bags on the death screen.

Recycle Bin Workbench Upgrade

The Recycle Bin now has its own inventory for bonus items, making collection more convenient.

Nodes in Safe Zones

Ore nodes and woodpiles no longer spawn in safe zones to prevent global spawn population drain.

Wolf Headdress Balance & QOL

The Wolf Headdress now requires a Tier 1 workbench for crafting, and lunar new year masks can be re-skinned freely.

Toggling Shields

Players can toggle shield positions with a cooldown to prevent spamming during gunfights.

High Wall Upkeep

High walls now have a static upkeep cost of 20%, discouraging excessive use for blocking map areas.

Water Well Vendor Stock

Water well vendor stock is reduced to prevent it from becoming an alternative to farming progression.

Hover Looting Fix

A bug fix allows intuitive swapping of clothing during looting, reducing frustration in fights.

Master Key Update

The Master Key now has a functional view model and animations for a better experience.

Arrow Revamp

Wooden arrows receive a visual update with new fletching, enhancing their appearance.

Demo UI 2

The demo UI receives a complete makeover, offering new features for content creators, including a dolly camera and keyframe timeline.

New Workshop Skinnable: Small Backpack

The Small Backpack is now skinnable, offering new opportunities for custom skins.

Game Startup Optimisations

Startup loading times are improved by only loading necessary assets initially.

Server Performance Improvements

Parallel Entity Saving on Jobs 4

Parallel saving of entities eases server frame processing bottlenecks, improving performance.

New Pool, Take 2

A new pool implementation improves performance and eliminates object leaks in high-contention scenarios.

Notable Changes

  • Maximum stored rent at the Apartment complex is capped at 72 hours.
  • Audible range of equipping a weapon attachment reduced to 20m.
  • Players will ragdoll when dismounting the Apartment Complex swing set.
  • Fishing village now sells Kayaks and Paddles, not blueprints.

Vehicle Emojis

All vehicles now have their own emoji in the in-game chat, with improvements to the emoji picker UI.

SetFlag Depreciation

SetFlag will be removed, replaced by a disposable pattern for updating entity flags.

Community UI Updates

New CUI components and mechanics, including tooltips and custom pie menus, enhance modded community experiences.

Rust OST on Vinyl

The Rust Original Soundtrack is available on vinyl, featuring Alex Rehberg's score.

Impact on Players and Server Owners

The Power Trip update introduces significant gameplay changes, encouraging player interaction with new events and monument features. Server owners should prepare for increased player activity around monuments and consider the implications of new power requirements for various features. The update also enhances the player experience with quality of life improvements and new content, such as the Bar Games Pack and Stone Sculpture DLCs.
