Rust Livestock Update: Cows, Sheep, and Farming Innovations

Introduction to Livestock
In the latest Rust update, players can now experience the joys of farming with the introduction of cows and sheep. These animals bring new resources and opportunities for players to explore.

Resources from Livestock
Cows and sheep are valuable additions, providing dung, milk from cows, and wool from sheep. They can also be harvested for meat, bones, and leather. Additionally, grown animals can be sold to NPCs at the ranch for various resources.
Setting Up a Farm
Players can capture wild livestock using intuitive methods. With the new navmesh, NPCs can enter player structures, adding depth to farming mechanics. Livestock have genetics and needs, allowing for breeding and genetic optimization.
Performance Considerations
To ensure smooth gameplay, only a subset of NPCs are processed each frame, distributing the load across frames. The navigation system has been optimized, doubling its performance since the last patch.
Livestock Economy
Players can sell grown cattle and sheep at stables for resources. Offers are randomized based on the animal's gene quality, with up to three offers per transaction. Wool can also be traded in for rewards based on quantity.

Milk and Its Uses
Milk from cows can be consumed or refrigerated for skimming, producing Skimmed Milk and Cream. Cream enhances the potency of tea effects and can be used in crafting recipes.

Livestock Fencing
New animal gates and fences help players manage livestock, ensuring their safety and containment.

Biofuel Generator
The Biofuel Generator allows players to convert organic matter into low-grade fuel. It requires manual stirring and can be connected to IO systems for alerts.

Critters and Swimmers
New critters like frogs, rabbits, and sea creatures enhance the game's environment. These animals are designed to have minimal impact on performance.

Air Wolf Repairable Helipad
The Air Wolf helipad at Bandit Camp requires repairs before air vehicles can be purchased. This encourages communal effort and resource investment.

Sandbag Stacking
Sandbags now have four stages, allowing players to stack them for increased height and defense. The crafting cost has been adjusted accordingly.
Powergrid Loot Rooms
New loot rooms have been added to various monuments, accessible by inserting Heavy Fuses at the Powerplant. The number of fuses required varies by monument.

- Airfield
- Ferry Terminal
- Harbour 1
- Harbour 2
- Junkyard
- Launch Site
- Military Tunnels
- Nuclear Missile Silo
- Radtown
- Sewer Branch
- Trainyard
- Water Treatment Plant
Population Decay Scaling of Heavy Fuses
Heavy fuse decay now scales with server population, ensuring power remains accessible on low-population servers. The small heavy fuse box is now more accessible.

Client Predicted Grenades/Explosives
Grenades, C4, and satchels now feature client prediction, making their use smoother and reducing wait times caused by server latency.
Machete Refresh
The machete has received a visual and animation update, featuring high-resolution textures and new animations.

Country Selection UI Refresh
The country selection UI has been redesigned for better integration with the server browser.
Performance Improvements
Viewmodel Memory
Optimizations in viewmodel memory have saved approximately 100MB by consolidating hand meshes.

Dynamic Store Assets
In-game store assets now load dynamically, reducing memory usage by up to 450MB when not in use.

Animation IK Jobs
Inverse kinematics have been multithreaded, improving performance by approximately 1ms per frame with 100 players.
Rust Render Pipeline
The new Rust Render Pipeline offers improved performance and graphical quality, with more optimizations planned for the future.

Anticheat: Additional Secure Servers
More servers now require TPM and Secure Boot, enhancing security and reducing cheater presence.

Crash Uploading
Automatic crash uploads improve game stability by allowing developers to address issues more efficiently.
