Rust Meta Shift Update: Blueprint Fragments and More

Blueprint Fragments
The progression meta in Rust has become too fast and easy, leading to less world PvP, especially around monuments. The new update introduces Blueprint Fragments to the Workbench system, aiming to slow down progression and encourage players to contest monuments and territory.

Workbench Level 1 remains unchanged, but Level 2 and Level 3 now require blueprint fragments to craft. These fragments are found at key monuments, creating a soft progression gate that pushes players into early fights and slows down clan snowballing.
Workbench Level 2 now requires 5 Basic Blueprint Fragments
Workbench Level 3 now requires 5 Advanced Blueprint Fragments
Blueprint fragments are tied directly to puzzles and high-end loot, encouraging players to push deeper into monuments and hackable events.
Basic Blueprint Fragments
Always spawn in green puzzle rooms (x1)
Always found in blue-card puzzles next to the red keycard (x2)
Found in airdrops
Advanced Blueprint Fragments
Guaranteed inside hackable crates
1 in 10 chance to appear in elite crates
Always spawn in pairs
The main areas where these can be found are:
Launch Site
Military Tunnels
Nuclear Missile Silo
Underwater Labs
Small and Large Oilrigs
Events: Cargoship and Ch47 crate drop
You can also convert 20 Basic Fragments into 1 Advanced Fragment, giving a fallback path.
Scrap crafting costs for workbench levels 2 and 3 are now greatly reduced, allowing players to have extra scrap to unlock items from the techtree.
Larger groups will naturally eventually accumulate more fragments than they need, creating an economy where fragments and workbenches are traded. Smaller groups and solos will be forced to scrap harder for their progression, making monuments hotly contested again.
We'll be watching and reading all feedback, and we'll adjust and balance as needed over the coming days and weeks. As mentioned at the beginning, this is just part 1, part 2 will be released in the December update.
Monument Puzzles
To ensure all mid to large-sized monuments are relevant, basic green keycard puzzles have been added to:
Dome
Ferry Terminal
Radtown

In addition, you'll now be able to find a recycler at the Dome, puzzle room.

Monument Loot Shuffle
Most monuments have had their loot moved to new locations, refreshing areas that previously had little to no loot. This change aims to break old habits and encourage players to rediscover movements.

Crate Loot
Hackable and Elite crate loot rolls have been reworked to remove junk, ensuring players always get something useful.

Drone Storage
Drones now have a single storage slot for a stack of any item. Throwable explosives dropped from drones are active and will explode as usual.

SAMs and Auto Turrets will target player drones as hostile, but marketplace drones remain safe.

Nuclear Missile Silo
The Nuclear Missile Silo monument is now a red keycard monument, aligning it with other high-tier areas. Advanced Blueprint Fragments can be found here, and three additional elite crates have been added.

Crosshair Customization
Rust now offers crosshair customization, allowing players to adjust style, color, dot size, spacing, line length, width, outline, and outline color. Players can also choose to hide the crosshair when aiming or keep it visible.

A crosshair sharing feature allows players to import and export crosshairs via a code.

New Item: Spike Trap
The spike trap is a new default primitive trap that slows and hurts players when stepped on. It costs 80 Wood to craft.

Monument Event Sounds
UI popups for Oil Rig resets, Cargo Ship inbound, and Excavator activated have been replaced with global environmental sounds for a more immersive experience. Players can re-enable message popups with the console command 'ui.monumentnotificationtoasts'.

Mission Reward Buff
Mission rewards have been significantly increased, offering higher quantities of loot and additional rewards. Players are encouraged to try missions and provide feedback.

Shore Crates
A new type of crate can now be found washed up along the spawn beach shore, offering a small boost to help players get started.

Workshop Scene Improvements
Upgrades to the workshop skin creation scene include UI improvements, new features, and updates to interface components. New features include toggles for the player model and depth of field effect, custom workshop icon support, and a new color picker.
Medieval Balance
The medieval arsenal has received balance changes to make weapons more viable. Shields now allow for more stamina, block a higher percentage of damage, and have a larger hitbox. Catapult ammo fires 30% further, reloads faster, and has reduced crafting costs. Other items like the Battering Ram, Propane Explosive, Ballista, and Bee bomb have also been adjusted.
Notable Changes
Fixed barricade placement issues near monuments
Fixed turrets being turned off by other turrets
Fixed invisible fire around APC debris
Removed chainsaw fail start-up chance
Improved cargoship pathing
Chinook Crate Drop Randomisation
The Chinook's crate drop logic has been updated to a true random selection.

Menu Optimisations
Reduced VRAM usage by compressing UI assets
Lowered CPU overhead when the menu is not visible
Addressed freezes and stalls when landing in the main menu
Modding Improvements
Several features have been integrated for modding, including drone station tax currency, ddraw without client admin, and more. The Community UI modding framework has also been updated with new features like 9-slice sprite support and draggable CUI components.
Performance - VRAM Improvements
VRAM usage has been optimized by adjusting texture streaming settings and enabling mimap streaming on all skins.
New Workshop Skinnable: Bed
The bed is now available for skinning in the workshop, with new skins already being submitted.

Rotatable Paintings
Paintings, signs, and photo frames can now be rotated before deployment, with hot-keyed controls for quick adjustments.
Bicycle Bunnyhopping
Bicycles and tricycles now feature bunnyhopping, allowing players to navigate obstacles more easily. Key points include:
Faster bikes provide higher bunnyhops
One bunnyhop every 3 seconds
Consumes 10% of the bike's stamina bar
Jumping is scaled with the bike's health and stamina

Projectile Invalids Work
Efforts are being made to investigate and resolve false positives in projectile invalids. Improvements have been made to edge-case false positives, and further plans are in place to better debug projectiles.
How you can help: If you experience projectile invalids, record a video clip and upload a bug report in-game using F7, stating the full server name and any other important information. You can also reach out on discord.gg/rust.
PVP Barricade (Again)
The stack size of the wooden barricade has been reduced from 10 to 3, and its health has been reduced by 20% to curb Insta-maze spam.
